Voluntary Climate Action
Voluntary climate action refers to efforts taken by individuals, organizations, cities, regions, companies, and other non-state actors to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address climate change, outside of mandatory government policies or international agreements.
These actions are driven by a sense of responsibility, ethical considerations, or strategic interests, rather than legal obligations. Voluntary climate action plays a critical role in complementing formal climate policies and helping to bridge the gap between current emissions and the targets set by the Paris Agreement.
